SAR "Cadet of the Year" Recognition Program

    Recognizing Excellence in Cadets

The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) proudly supports ROTC and JROTC programs that carry forward the spirit of the “citizen-soldier” first exemplified by the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War. Each year, SAR chapters present ROTC and JROTC Medals to cadets who demonstrate exceptional leadership, military bearing, and academic excellence, as selected by their commanding officers.

Awards include the Silver ROTC Medal for college-level cadets and the Bronze JROTC Medal for secondary school cadets—each given once in a student’s career. Larger units may receive multiple awards based on enrollment, ensuring broad recognition of merit.

SAR members, as descendants of the patriots who won American independence, remain dedicated to fostering patriotism, supporting citizen leadership, and encouraging future generations to uphold the principles of freedom and service.

    Honoring the Citizen-Soldier

The SAR JROTC/ROTC Recognition Program celebrates cadets who show exceptional leadership, military bearing, and dedication to the ideals of the citizen-soldier.
